Control lights from Gemini on Android
Do you already have a smart light, plug, fan or TV in the Google Home app?
What to do
- Requirement: open the Google Home app. You must already see at least one smart light, plug, fan, AC or TV. A normal wall switch is not enough. Gemini cannot add devices for you.
- Open the Gemini app on Android. Sign in with the same personal Google account you use in Google Home. Work or school accounts cannot connect Home yet.
- Ask Gemini to do one action, using the room or device name from Google Home, for example: “turn on living room lights.” The first time, connect Google Home when Gemini offers it. If it does not, add @Google Home to the message.
- Watch the real device. If nothing happens, open Google Home and control it there.
- Optional: say “Hey Google” on the phone if Voice Match is on. English works; some languages do not support Hey Google.

Input (illustrative): Device in Google Home named “sala lamp.” You type: “turn on sala lamp.” Useful result: Gemini connects Google Home the first time, then the lamp turns on. If the name is wrong, Gemini asks you to pick a device or opens Google Home.
Before you use it: Google says home controls are for convenience, not safety. Do not use this for a stove, iron or door lock. Gemini will not unlock a door. Nest speaker “Gemini for Home” early access still does not list the Philippines; this lesson is the phone app only. Keep Activity must be on.
