Stop retyping your background story every chat

In standard AI chats, when you start a new conversation, the AI forgets everything you discussed before. You have to re-explain: “I am a freelance graphic designer in Manila with three clients…”

With Claude Projects, you can create a dedicated workspace that holds your reference documents, product lists, and custom instructions. Every chat inside that project already knows who you are and what your goals are.

What you need

• A Claude account (available on Claude Pro/Team plans, with basic workspace features rolling out widely).
• Notes or files you frequently reference: price lists, customer FAQs, resume details, or brand guidelines.

How to set up a Project

1. In the Claude sidebar, click Projects and select Create Project.
2. Name your project (for example: Shopee Store Operations or Freelance Writing Client A).
3. Under Project Knowledge, upload your reference files:
   • Your product list with prices and dimensions.
   • Your store return policy and shipping fees.
   • Sample replies that you liked in the past.
4. Under Set custom instructions, give Claude its role:

You are a friendly, efficient store assistant for our Manila-based online shop.
Always respond in polite English or Taglish as requested.
Use our official pricing and delivery guidelines from the uploaded files.
Never promise a refund or discount without flagging it for my approval.

How to co-work inside the Project

Now, whenever you open this project and start a chat, Claude already knows your business:

• “Draft a reply to a buyer asking why shipping to Davao takes 5 days.” → Claude checks your shipping policy file and writes the exact reply.
• “Write an announcement for our 10.10 sale highlighting our 3 best-selling tumblers.” → Claude pulls the exact product names from your catalog.

Good project ideas for everyday users

• Freelance / VA Desk: Upload your client’s brand guide, preferred fonts, tone rules, and past approved email templates.
• Academic Research / Thesis: Upload your course syllabus, lecture slides, and research papers for one specific class.
• Home Business Operations: Keep supplier contact policies, recipes, or inventory sheets in one safe place.

Before you upload files

• Do not upload files containing customer credit card numbers, passwords, or government IDs.
• If you work for a company, confirm that uploading internal documents into cloud AI workspaces is permitted by your workplace data policy.
