Understand an unfamiliar topic

Gemini can help you brainstorm, summarize and understand information. On many Android phones it is already on the device. You should still check every important answer.

What you need

• A phone or computer with internet access.
• Gemini in a supported browser, or the official Gemini app on Android.
• A Google account is often required. The app is not available for every language, device, account or location.

Try this

1. Open Gemini and start a new chat.
2. Copy the prompt below.
3. Paste it into the message box and replace the topic inside the brackets.
4. Send the message. Read the answer and ask about anything unclear.

Explain [topic] to me in simple English.
Assume I am completely new to it.
Give me one everyday example. Add practical steps only if they fit the topic.
If you are unsure about a fact, say so clearly.

A topic to try

Replace the topic with “the difference between a deadline and an appointment.” A useful answer should explain that a deadline is when something is due, while an appointment is a scheduled meeting or visit.

If the answer is unclear, ask: “Use a school or household example.”

If the answer is too complicated

Use shorter sentences. Explain technical words the first time you use them.

Before you rely on it

• Check important information using the original source.
• Do not use an AI answer alone for medical, legal or financial decisions.
• Never paste passwords, PINs, one-time login codes or card details. Remove private information before uploading documents or screenshots. See what to leave out of a chat.
