Use Gemini on an Android phone

Ask from the phone in your pocket
Section titled “Ask from the phone in your pocket”Many Android phones in the Philippines already include Gemini. You can type, talk or show it a photo. The app is not on every phone, and Live camera is in the Gemini mobile app, not the Gemini website.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- An Android phone with internet access.
- The official Gemini app. If you do not see it, install it from Google Play. Some languages, devices, accounts and locations are not supported.
- A Google account signed in on the phone.
- For a photo task, pick something that is not an ID, bank card, other people’s faces or a private document.
Try this
Section titled “Try this”- Open the Gemini app.
- For a typed question, use the message box as in the first Gemini lesson.
- To talk, tap Live at the bottom (or swipe left) and follow the on-screen instructions the first time.
- To show Gemini what you see, tap Camera inside a Live chat, or tap Add files then Gallery or Camera and send a still photo.

Section titled “A first phone task”Photograph a rice-cooker panel, a school form heading or a product label. Ask: “What does this label say I should do next?”
Match names, numbers and warnings to the photo. If the answer invents a brand or a price you cannot see, ignore that part.
Other things the phone can already do
Section titled “Other things the phone can already do”People often open Gemini only to chat. On Android it can also:
- Control a light, fan or TV only if it is already in Google Home. See Google Home / smart home.
- Describe a photo or label. See Ask AI about what you see.
- Paste a public YouTube link and ask Gemini to summarize it. See Summarize a YouTube video.
- Answer a question about this screen if Gemini is your phone assistant: activate Gemini over Chrome or another app, then Ask about screen.
- Set a reminder or add to a list: “Remind me tomorrow at 7 AM to pay the electric bill.”
- Say Hey Google if Voice Match is on. If Filipino voice commands do not work, switch Gemini’s language to English for that request.
If Live is not there
Section titled “If Live is not there”Use a still photo instead. Gemini Live with camera is a mobile-app feature. Availability can change by device and account.

Before you rely on it
Section titled “Before you rely on it”- Do not treat the answer as medical, legal, electrical or financial advice.
- The camera turns off if you leave the app, lock the screen or put Live on hold.
- Never photograph passwords, OTPs, cards or other people’s private papers.
